Act Boldly, Live Gently

This is the name and logo for our environmental sustainability initiative. It encompasses our plans for a green clinic—in a green building, advancing green health care, engaging in ongoing environmental education and advocacy—and it represents our conviction that environmental justice and reproductive justice are intimately linked.

Becoming a green abortion clinic has special significance. Across the world and in this community, women and children, especially poor women and children, are affected disproportionately by environmental degradation. These women are our patients, and for most of them it is out of concern for their children and families that they use our services.

We care deeply for women and their families. We believe in women's right to determine whether or when to have children, to become parents and parent with dignity, to have healthy pregnancies, and to have healthy and safe families and relationships, including a healthy environment in which to live, work, and play.

So when we were faced with some major building system replacements and renovation needs, we looked at what would be best for women's health and welfare. The result was our plan to Act Boldly, Live Gently, and transform Preterm into a clinic that treats the environment with the same care that we treat the women we serve.
