Get Active
Being a pro-choice activist means putting your values and convictions to work in the world and letting people know you support abortion rights and reproductive justice. These are some ideas to get you started or to help you carry on when you feel discouraged.
- Register to Vote and Vote Pro-Choice
- The simplest way to make your voice heard. In Ohio, you can find out about registration and upcoming elections on the Secretary of State's website.
- Talk with Friends and Family
- Let them know that you understand the complexity of making a decision about a pregnancy and that you are a safe person to talk to.
- Host an Abortion Conversation
- Have a formal conversation about abortion with your pro-choice friends and colleagues. Preterm can help you plan it, supply materials, and provide a facilitator. You can have it at your home, with your book club or other group you belong to, at your church or synagogue, or wherever you think people are willing to join you in conversation.
- Support Organizations That Protect Access to Abortion
- Donate or volunteer with organizations like NARAL that work to protect abortion and other reproductive rights.
- Make Your Pro-Choice Voice Heard
- Contact your elected representatives and tell them that you're a registered voter and pro-choice advocate. Support pro-choice politicians with your vote and financial contributions. Write letters to your local newspapers advocating women's reproductive rights.
