Abortion Pill in North Royalton Ohio

Abortion Pill in North Royalton Ohio

One of the two methods Preterm offers for an abortion is a surgical abortion and a medication (abortion pill) abortion. When making a decision about abortion, our staff will help you decide which method is right for you based on varying factors. Both methods are safe and effective for any patient and rely on the term of the pregnancy, financial situation, and pain tolerance.

If the method chosen is the abortion pill, the patient will be prescribed a combination of two drugs, mifepristone and misoprostol. Each drug of abortion pill contributes to a different part of the abortion. Mifepristone causes changes in the lining of the uterus and Misoprostol then causes the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy.

The abortion pill method requires two visits to Preterm. On the first visit a patient will fill out medical history paperwork, receive an ultrasound exam, and receive a private counseling session before the abortion pill is administered. On the second visit, the doctor will give you an oral dose of mifepristone and a dose of misoprostol to take at home 24 to 48 hours later.

Some side effects of the abortion pill include cramping and bleeding similar to a normal heavy period. You may see blood clots and tissue that come from the uterus. This is an expected part of ending the pregnancy using the abortion pill. Common side effects of the abortion pill include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, fever, and dizziness. The doctor will provide prescriptions to manage any pain or nausea you may experience.
